Keeping track of passwords can feel overwhelming—especially as more of our lives move online. If you’ve ever reused the same password or written them down on paper, you’re not alone.

A password manager is a tool that securely stores your passwords in one place, so you don’t have to remember them all. Instead, you only need to remember one strong master password.

Many password managers can also:

Create strong, unique passwords for you
Automatically fill in login information
Alert you if a password may have been exposed in a data breach

If you’re getting started, here are a few simple steps you can take:

Choose a password manager (many have free versions to try)
Create a strong master password—something long, but memorable to you (like a phrase)
Start by adding just a few important accounts (like email or banking)
Let the password manager generate and save new passwords as you log in
Avoid reusing passwords across different accounts

You don’t have to switch everything over at once. Even updating a few key accounts can make a big difference.

It’s a small step that can help you stay more organized, reduce stress, and protect your information online.
